Rob Bishop

Coach, Canterbury

Rob is an HR and leadership recruitment specialist and crisis management coach.

Prior to moving to New Zealand in the late 1990s, Rob spent almost a decade providing support to people with mental health and drug and alcohol issues in the UK. Since then, he has used his people and communication skills to offer human resource consulting, coaching and recruitment services to a diverse range of organisations. Rob's experience includes managing the regional divisions of two well-known multi-national recruitment service providers, as well as working with managers and executives from various organisations across both the public and private sectors including companies in health, professional services, sales, manufacturing, technology, utilities and engineering.

Rob's background in psychotherapy, psychology and post-graduate training in clinical Transactional Analysis, along with his commercial and business skills, leave him well placed to offer high-level and business-oriented crisis coaching support.

His passion lies in working with individuals to help them understand themselves and realise their potential. He believes that a supportive, open, trusting and respectful relationship can help facilitate lasting and meaningful positive change. Rob is recognised as providing a high level of integrity, professionalism, humour and ethical practice to his methodology and he works closely with his clients to ensure their needs are recognised and addressed.

Rob employs an integrative approach to crisis coaching using principles drawn from Transactional Analysis along with elements of gestalt, person-centred and cognitive behavioural techniques. Whilst each coaching relationship is unique, a common focus on personal development and awareness underpins the process. Understanding the relationship between perception and behaviour and its application within the cultural and structural framework of an organisation often helps individuals develop effective solutions to their workplace challenges.

Rob is also a specialist recruitment consultant who primarily works with HR and leadership level roles. He has been recruiting in the New Zealand market since 1998, has built a wide network of clients and candidates over that time, and is an expert in search and selection methodology.
