Andrew Brickell is a consulting civil engineer and specialist construction contract adviser and arbitrator, based in Auckland. He has more than 50 years of professional experience with contractors, asset owners and major consultancies. During this time, he has been involved with construction projects in 20 countries.
A significant part of Andrew's career has been spent in part-time teaching at various universities, running training for clients and for consulting organisations, specialising in the documentation, procurement and administration of engineering contracts and their project management.
Andrew has had extensive experience with the development and use of the NZS 3910 conditions of contract on engineering projects and with other forms of contract such as the several FIDIC conditions, various Australian standards, the New Engineering Contract, and contracts used by international funding agencies such as the World Bank. He was a voluntary member of the Standards NZ committee for the recent revision of NZS 3910/3916/3917, representing IPENZ and ACENZ, and has also been a voluntary member of the FIDIC Contracts Committee’s Task Group 11 on DBO contract development.
