Description
One of the key skills of an effective leader is the ability to engage in meaningful coaching conversations with team members. Developing the skills necessary to be an effective coach involves the use of fundamental communication skills, core concepts and tools, and lots of practice.
This workshop is based on the GROW coaching model, which is an internationally acclaimed model for structuring coach-like conversations at work. You’ll gain new ideas for using coaching as a leadership tool for enhancing performance, and an understanding of when and how to apply the GROW model to your conversations at work.
The workshop will introduce you to key coaching concepts and tools. You will have opportunities to practise key coaching conversations, as well as professional development conversations and goal setting.
Having these important conversations with your team members will help you to build trust, openness and transparency in your team, leading to increased engagement and supporting a high performing team.
Learning Outcomes
Participation in this workshop will enable you to:
- recognise the differences between coaching, mentoring and instructing
- use the key communication skills needed as a foundation for any effective coaching conversation
- apply your awareness of factors that influence your ability to have effective coaching conversations
- use core coaching concepts, tools and techniques to prepare for and lead effective coaching and development planning conversations with your team members.
